Jobs and Transportation Act
Overview
Building and maintaining transportation infrastructure employees thousands of Oregonians.
House Bill 2001, also known as the Oregon Jobs and Transportation Act, is the transportation funding plan adopted by the 2009 Legislature. Three core themes emerged from the legislation:
  • accountability, innovation and environmental stewardship;
  • highway, road and street funding; and
  • multimodal funding.
In addition, several other provisions address important elements of Oregon’s transportation system and our economy.

Quick Facts
Cutting the ribbon on a new transportation project.
  • Total transportation funding: $300 million per year
  • DMV fee increases effective Oct. 1. 2009. 
  • Motor Carrier fee increases effective Jan. 1, 2010
  • Gas/diesel tax increase effective no later than Jan. 1, 2011
  • Includes ConnectOregon III: $100 million in lottery-backed bonds for rail, public transit, ports/marine and air investments
  • Contains directives to study improving inter-governmental partnering, reducing emissions and reducing costs of the transportation system
