| Parental Consent |
If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your biological or adoptive parent or court-appointed legal guardian sign all applications to obtain any type of driving privilege (such as the Driver License/ID Card Application). If your parents are divorced, either parent or a legal guardian may sign your application, regardless of who has custody.
Married?
If you are under 18 and married, you are not required to obtain a parent or legal guardian's signature. Instead, you must present documentation showing that you are married.
Emancipated?
If you are emancipated by means other than marriage, you must present a copy of the emancipation decree issued by the juvenile court. A parent or legal guardian's signature is not required.

| Withdrawal of Parental Consent |
The parent or legal guardian who gave consent for a driving privilege by signing an application may withdraw their consent for the child to have a permit or license at any time until the child turns 18. The request must come from the same person who gave consent and must be submitted in writing to DMV. Form 735-7340, Withdrawal of Consent for Driving Privileges by Parent or Legal Guardian, must be completed and sent to DMV. The instructions are on the form.

| Obtaining Driving Privilege After Cancellation for Withdrawal of Consent |
A person whose driving privilege was canceled due to withdrawal of consent may regain their privileges when they turn 18, obtain a parent or legal guardian’s consent again, are married, or become emancipated. Testing is not required unless the driving privilege has been expired for more than 1 year.
